SHOFU Block and Disk HC is a Hybrid ceramic-based material that is manufactured using CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) systems. It is a high-tech, ceramic-based Hybrid material that has been developed to produce durable, aesthetically pleasing, metal-free dental restorations at a high level of aesthetics.

Key Features

  • Composition : It is a mixed ceramic composed of approximately 61 percent zirconium silicate nanofillers embedded in a pre-polymerised polymer base. The special combination offers a balance between the strength of ceramic and the stress-absorbing characteristics of resin.
  • Strength & Durability : It has high flexural strength (exceeding 190 MPa). More importantly, it can absorb masticatory forces (chewing forces) more effectively than many all-ceramic products due to its low flexural modulus, which keeps it longer and safer against the opposing natural dentition. It is also nearly as hard as natural dentin, which reduces wear on the opposing teeth.
  • Aesthetics : The material exhibits a tooth-like quality in terms of light transmission and fluorescence, allowing for a seamless blend of restorations with the surrounding natural teeth. It comes in one-layer and two-layer blocks/disks, the latter resembling the natural dentin and enamel stratification, characterised by opaque and translucent layers.
  • Workflow : The milling procedure is fast and accurate, and the restorations can be polished to a very high gloss in a very short period without firing (as required with glass-ceramics and zirconia). This enhances the quick chairtime of single-visit dentistry.
  • Versatility : Suited to a comprehensive set of indications, including:
